About Me
Hey, I'm Lukasz — I live somewhere between a terminal window and a For You Page. By day I'm compiling, patching, and rebuilding my Linux box from source; by night I'm turning that chaos into short-form videos on TikTok as @Lukasz.aep.
I run Gentoo Linux as my daily driver, which basically means I build my entire operating system myself, package by package, flag by flag. Slow installs, blazing runtime — that's the trade I choose every time.
This site itself is a love letter to the early-2010s Fruitiger Aero web look and the cozy Wii Menu vibe — glassy bubbles, glossy buttons, rounded channels, and a big glowing globe watching over everything.
My Gentoo Kernel
Built from source, on purpose
No binary kernels here. I pull the sources straight from
/usr/src/linux, run make menuconfig, and hand-pick every
driver and subsystem my hardware actually needs — nothing more.
- Custom
.configtuned specifically for my CPU and devices - Stripped of modules and drivers I'll never touch
- Compiled with
-march=native -O2inmake.conf - OpenRC init for a lean, transparent boot
- Rebuilt on every major kernel bump — Portage keeps me on my toes
Why bother?
Faster boots, a smaller attack surface, and the deeply satisfying feeling of knowing exactly what's running on my machine. Every USE flag is a decision, every recompile teaches me something new about the kernel I'm booting into.
Gentoo isn't the easy path — it's the understood path. If you've ever wondered what's actually happening between pressing the power button and seeing your desktop, compiling your own kernel is the fastest way to find out.
